Rip's BAD Ride - Coordinators page

printable PDF version

This page is a detailed list of how to get the most possible exposure for Rip's BAD Ride through MotoZania motorcycle social network.

Some of you are computer wiz kids, and some not so much. This form may seem a bit long. Do not get discouraged and pass on it. We are spending a great deal of our time to teach you every web tactic and marketing tool we know to help promote your charity ride.

If you follow these instructions, it will not only help you attract riders for this years ride, but will help promote the Rip's BAD Ride and the American Diabetes Association for many years to come. Your time will not be wasted doing this.

STEP 1 Joining MotoZania

Just click on any icon where it says JOIN HERE  or  join now . The icons are at the top of all our community pages.

The first box, Upload Profile Photo, is optional. But if you want your profile looked at, we encourage you to put up an image. Remember, this is marketing so don't be shy. Ladies, put up a photo of yourself, those get the most attention. Guys, hey you might just be God's gift like we all think we are, but a cool photo of your bike or you and your bike will get more looks than a head shot.

When you click Browse you will be sent to your computer to find a photo for your profile.

Once you select the photograph on your computer, click Open and it will automatically be put into this box for upload. Your profile photo must be in JPEG, PNG, or GIF format and must be smaller than 100MB.

Email
, Please be careful typing in your address. The system is going to send you a confirmation to the address you type in. If you misspelled your address, the confirmation email will not get to you and your membership will not be activated.  You can always update your email address in your profile when you change emails. We ask that you stay on top of keeping your most current email address in MotoZania so you can be notified of system updates, news, contests ,give-a-ways and of course people wanting more info on the BAD Ride.

User Name
is what you want to be called on MotoZania. It can be your real name, nick name or any non-profanity word. Note: Your User Name can never be changed, so make sure it is one you like. Your Username must be between 3 and 24 characters. You can use letters, numbers, and underscores only. If you pick a User Name already assigned to another Member, the system will ask you for another name.

Password
is self explanatory. Your password must be between 4 and 24 characters long. Write it down. If you do ever forget your password, at the very top of every social page is the icon forgot password. The system will send your password to your MotoZania registered email address. (another good reason to keep it updated)

Date of Birth
- Federal law now requires social sites to ask for your birthday. Please use your correct birthday.

Enter the Text
- This is to prove you are a human and not a computer filling out applications.

Read the Terms of Service, if you agree, check mark the box.

Click the join button.

Rip's B.A.D Ride
Bikers Against Diabetes—is a motorcycle fund-raising ride and family festival of the American Diabetes Association. This event unites the biker nation in the fight against diabetes with a full day of great riding and big entertainment. We have delicious food, lots of activities and a good vibe!

The B.A.D Ride was started in Southern California by Rip Rose, a biker and photojournalist for Easyriders. Rip wanted to bring the biker nation together in the fight against diabetes. Today, that dream is a reality.

Each ride has multiple start locations, where riders meet in the morning, hang out, and begin an escorted ride to the final destination.

Don't feel like being part of the pack? Sleep in and ride over directly to the festival site!

Find a Rip's BAD Ride near you!

The "your state" Rip's BAD Ride will be held on XXX XX, 2011. We will meet at ...... fill in all your info about the ride.

Do not forget to include ways to contact you. Also, be sure to list as much detail as possible about the actual event. Also include personal notes about Diabetes. Talk about YOU or YOUR child if he or she was stricken with this terrible ailment. Remember, this is why people are coming to ride. Tug at their hearts and the purse strings loosen.

Personal Motto and the rest of the Profile Questions are self explanatory. They are here for you to talk about yourself. Say as much or as little as you like, but the more you write, the easier it is for people to get to know you.

Update Profile when ever you complete or change your profile before going to another page.

Next in the secondary Tool Bar click on Edit Profile Theme. Try out a few to see what you like. Once you select a theme, it auto updates your profile. Click on View Profile to see how it looks.

My RSS Feeds have been disabled

My Links have been disabled but you are welcome to post one in the About Me section to the American Diabetes Association and your local event page.

Edit Account
- Please click on this button and fill in the information boxes. It may seem redundant to be doing this in addition to your profile, but this information goes directly on your profile. The number one thing people say is important to them about a social network is finding people close to them. This is the place to include that information. Tell us your Country, State and City so others can see where you are from.

Update Profile
- Click this before going to another page.

STEP 3 Joining the Rip's BAD Ride Group.

Start by Clicking on the main tool bar  Groups.

Our Groups will appear on a new screen in the order of Most Recent. Feel free to scroll through them. Or, at the very top of the page, use the search box to see if we have your group. Most manufactures are already on the site. Plus we have hundreds of clubs, Associations, after market and all kinds of other groups. Each time you try a query in the search box, you must  click on Groups again in the main tool bar.

The search box is only relevant to the page you are on.

Just type in BAD and Rip's group will appear. When you find the Rip's BAD Ride group, click on it.

In the box with the Rip's BAD Ride logo, click where it says "Join this Group". Wait a couple seconds, and that's it.

Start the process over with the next group you want to be part of.

This will be the second place you get to post your ride. In the COMMENT section, introduce your self and post your ride.  Just cut and paste what you just posted in your profile. Keep in mind, human nature. People will follow where others have been. If  a lot of you join the group and post a comment, your group will also be featured in some of our automatic sections that list things like the groups with the most members, most comment, most media, ect.

STEP 4 Starting a Forum about your individual Rip's BAD Ride.

In the main tool bar click the icon for FORUMS.

The Forum Message Board page will come up. We have started numerous boards and one for each state and several counties.

Select the Forum for the State your ride will take place in.

When the State screen come up, just click on Start a New Discussion. Once again, here you can cut and paste the same info from your profile. Add to the discussion as you sign new sponsors. It helps them, plus shows activity in your forum. This is one of the things that sets our motorcycle social network apart from a listing site. Here, people can interact with what you write. To get the dialog moving, ask your co-chairs to join and post a reply to your forum. The same holds true, the more people involved on the discussion, the more that will look to see what is happening.

STEP 5 Adding a Photo and turning it into a FREE Ad for your individual Rip's BAD Ride.

In the main tool bar click the icon for PHOTOS.
The Photos page will come up and in the secondary tool bar, click on Add a Photo.

When you click Browse you will be sent to your computer to find the picture you wish to upload. Once you select the picture on your computer, it will automatically be put into this box for upload.

The easiest way to explain the rest of the process is to give you an example. Let's say you have a photograph of you on your 2009 Harley Sportster XR1200.

The Title box is one of the ways your content gets indexed on MotoZania. It is best to include something about your motorcycle photo. Using our test example, you might want to call it  My 2009 Harley Sportster XR1200 at Rip's BAD Ride.

The Description Box is the way we are going to turn your pictures into free ads. First, tell us about the photo, we are interested! It also helps get your photo indexed on the site. The description based on the scenario above would read something like this:
" I took my 2009 Harley-Davidson Sportster XR1200 to Sunday breakfast at Cook's Corner in Orange County, California then met up with 5000 other bikers at Irvine Lake for Rip's BAD Ride.

Try using different colors and even some HTML in here. Play around, you can always edit it later.

Now, add in the same content as your profile and the forum with a few minor changes to each picture so the search engines like it. Make sure you list your Rip's BAD Ride date, location and how to contact you, PLUS info about ADA.

TAGS
, I capitalize it because this may be the most important box of all. The Tags are what search engine robots and spiders see. Google, Bing, Yahoo, ASK, and all the others look for these key words to find the content on MotoZania. Try to think like a computer and using the reference from above, your tags would be:
h-d harley -davidson XR12002009  motorcycle "orange county" charity "rips bad ride" "american diabetes association" ada "cooks corner"

With those tags, not only can everybody on MotoZania find your cool bike photo, but now every Internet user in the world can.

In the Category section, once again choose - motorcycle charity rides.

Add Media to My Groups
. By now you will have joined your Groups that interest you. One photo can be assigned to many groups. The site was designed so your media can be seen in as many places as possible. Using our scenario from above, you could put a check mark in front of the boxes for Harley Davidson, Cook's Corner, and your group for Rip's BAD Ride.

This way, including the Most Recent page, your one photo will appear in multiple places on MotoZania. Please do not abuse this privilege. Do not spam your photo into hundreds of groups. The site integrity depends on content being relevant.

Email Friends About Your Photo. This box gives you the opportunity to have all your friends invited to see your photograph.

Use the location drop downs to tell us where the photo was taken. This will be very helpful for trying to find media from locations.

Click the Add Photo button and your motorcycle photo will be added to the site.

After you follow this procedure a couple times it becomes second nature and is really quite easy to do.

We suggest that you add one or two photos each week (no more than two because they will get over looked).  If all 8 Rip's BAD Rides add two photos per week until the ride, you will have added over 300 FREE ads to the web every year.

But it won't happen on it's own. Thanks to wonderful dedicated people like yourselves putting in your efforts, it will happen.
